Frequently Asked Questions

Core Exiles - General FAQ's

Can we please remove all the acknowledgment buttons. I'm sick of clicking yes and no etc.
Unfortunately if they are there it's mostly to stop cheating and exploitation. We have a number of players who from time to time try their best to hack / cheat and generally exploit their way in CE. These extra checks are there to ensure you arrive at that screen in a normal and legal fashion. So no, if the button exists its for a good reason and not because we enjoy adding buttons for fun.

why cant I 'Sell All' to Joes?
You can but not from your ships store. Enter Joes Store and you will find what you are looking for.

I'm out of fuel now what!
If you are new to Core-Exiles you will have a level 1 engine. This produces SIX units of fuel every 15 minutes. Either wait till time have passed (IE go away do some work, read a book, make a coffee, get some sleep) or purchase a larger engine, or extra fuel from the Official CE store here :
http://store.core-exiles.co.uk/

CE is funded by the purchases made here. It's NOT compulsory and you will be able to play CE using the 576 units of fuel your engine produces each 24 hours. Alternatively you can support CE and purchase yourself a larger engine, fuel tank or some more fuel. It's your choice.

I bought items and I cant find them ?
Items in CE purchased from stores tend to generally go directly to your ships store. If you purchase items else where, say from the Player Market or from another player they will go to the 'Local Collection Point'. IE if a player sends you an item it will be left in a collection point for you to go collect. You can see everything thats waiting for you in ALL collection points simply by visiting any CP.

Some times items will be returned to you. For instance if an extractor that fills up the local ORSA will place it in the CP for you to collect. Lastly you may purchase a nice item you intend to use and find that when you go to fit it the item is not listed. This is generally as the 'fitting page' only displays items you have the Level to use. So Always check the items requirements before purchasing. These items will be found by looking in your ships stores in the correct area.

What happens when I die?
Currently there is no 'perma-death' in Core-Exiles. At early levels you will simply be towed back to a nearby star base and your ship patched up. Later as you raise in Captain Level you will begin to loose fuel (your life blood in CE) this is something you really want to avoid. Also you will begin to loose credits and cargo etc.

How do I play this game and make any money?
Core-Exiles is a vast game with 100's of options and paths to take. It's up to YOU to make those decisions. As a general guide ALWAYS play the starter missions. If you have not done so return to Starbase-51 in the Feris system and talk to Jonas. From there he will lead you to Gunny. These early missions show you how to do some of the game basics.

After that make sure you read the Guides. There are three short guides in the game (top left drop down) and lots more here in the forums in the 'CE GUIDES' section. You can haul cargo for Ashar, Wesbec. Take a combat route and choose to shoot for a side. Become a miner, mine asteroids, place extractors, fill GBM contracts, refine ores. Become a crafter, collect schematics and resources and build your empire rather than buy it. Recycle your junk and others, salvage from dead RAIDS. Fill contracts for LT Lutac over in Franklyn. Do the 300+ NPC missions these will award good credits, XP and IP. - Truly CE is what YOU make it not what we have decided you will do. If you're stuck ask, but make sure you've done at least a little homework and research in the Guides section first.

I've been told by the game I'm exploiting?
Core-Exiles is set up so that you should NOT need to use 'Back' or 'Refresh' using these in the game will often end up with a message informing you it appear you may be trying to exploit the game. These rules and catches are there to stop exploiters and players who try to use 'Multiple Browser' logins to hack or exploit the game. If you are merely accidentally refreshing or using the back key you have nothing to worry about.

All exploitive actions are logged and regularly monitored. This was we can spot legitimate exploitation from the causal accidental issue. You should also note that CE is designed to only allow one browser connection at a time. We suggest that you only ever open CE from the main login portal accessed either from either http://core-exiles.com or http://core-exiles.co.uk. The game is designed to be played in a 'pre designed pop up window' If you choose to play in any other fashion we cannot help you with game issues.

Core Exiles - Accounts

Can I have more than one account?
Only one account per player is allowed.

If you share the same computer/IP address with another person, you will need to upgrade your account (and comply with some rules).
Top

What are the benefits of upgrading my account?
Upgrading your account will allow you to play the game on a shared IP address (Work, School, Internet Cafe, Etc) where other people may be playing at the same time. If you do not have an upgraded account, then you will be unable to play on a shared IP address.

This will ensure the long term success and Sustainability of the game, and ultimately benefit all players by having fast and reliable servers, and help us to make improvements and additions over time.

Note: Premium Accounts are exempt from 30 and 60 day Prune rules. See the forums for more information.

How can I pay for the account upgrade?
All upgrades are purchased through the Core Exiles Store. As with all purchases in the Core Exiles store, we use Paypal. Paypal is a safe way to pay for goods and services on the internet.
Top

When you checkout via Paypal you don’t need to have a Paypal account, you will be offered the option to login to a paypal account, or to enter your Credit Card information.

Once I have paid, how long before my upgrade is activated ?
As with all purchases through the Core Exiles store, once payment has been verified, your account will be upgraded. If you pay by echeck, these can take 7-10 days to clear, so your account will be upgraded once payment has cleared.
Top

I have upgraded, but my account still has not received the upgrade.

Core Exiles - Shared IP Address

I got a warning email that I am using a shared IP.
If you get a warning stating that your account is using a shared IP, then one or more accounts are connecting to the Internet with the same IP address as you.
Top

Does this mean you think I'm cheating?
Not at all. It simply means that you and at least one other account are playing the game from the same location / IP.
Top

Why do Core Exiles have this rule about shared IPs?
The use of shared IPs is not allowed to prevent cheating. These rules have been imposed to ensure the game is fair and equal for all players.

Please do not contact us and ask us to make an exception for you or your friend, as unfortunately, the request will not be entertained.
Top

I am being accused of using a shared IP, but I am sure I am not.
There are a number of reasons why you may be caught in the shared IP check...

1. Another member of your household is playing the game as well.
2. You are logged in from a public place (Work, School, Internet Cafe, Library, Airport, Etc) which has a single IP address for all clients.
3. You logged in to the game at a friends house, or vice versa.
4. Your ISP has has assigned you a new IP address that has been used in the past by another Core Exiles account.
Top

What can I do if I'm caught using a shared IP?
There are two options. You can either play the game from a unique IP address (some ISP's offer fixed IP addresses. Contact your ISP for more information) or you can upgrade to a premium account.

There is one simple rule that you must abide by with a premium account:

1. You may not trade any resources, credits, or any other in-game item to another player on the same IP address that has a Free account (either knowingly, or not). The other user must have a Premium Account, or the account will be flagged, and ultimately, frozen.

If you agree to these rules, you can then upgrade your account through the Core Exiles store.

If you play with a friend or family member from the same IP address, and for whatever reason are unable to comply with the above, then you must terminate one of your accounts (through your in game Bio screen) so the other can continue to play the game.

If you stop using a shared IP address, then you can continue to play both/all accounts.
Top

Why do I have to upgrade my account to play on a shared IP ?
We have unfortunately been forced to require players to upgrade their accounts to minimize chances of people abusing the game. Anyone can claim to be playing with a family member and it would be almost impossible for us to confirm.

When a player upgrades their account we monitor his/her account to prevent abuse and cheating, which of course requires extra effort on our part.
Top

What if I don't want or can't afford to upgrade my account ?
Then unfortunately, you will be unable to play the game on a shared IP. The rules are there to protect every single player in the game and we cannot, and will not make exceptions.
Top

I have an upgraded account. Why am I receiving warnings?
If you have an upgraded account and are receiving warnings, then you are clearly not complying with the rules set out in regard to accounts on shared IP addresses.
Top

I have an upgraded account, why was another player on the same IP suspended ?
Your account upgrade applies to you and you alone. Any other players using the same IP as you are required to upgrade as well to continue using the same IP address.
Top

If I stop using a shared IP will I still need to upgrade my account ?
Not at all no. If you move to a unique IP address when you receive your first warning message, then your account will remain open, and you can continue to play on the free account.
Top

Can you tell me please which other players are using the same IP address as me ?
Sorry, no. We are very serious about data protection, and as such, we are not prepared to divulge any information about another players account with you. It is possible that the player(s) in question do not want you to know that they are playing in the same location as you.

I already play Core Exiles, can my Brother/Sister/Father/Friend Play Too?
Along with new features to the game, we have unfortunately been forced to introduce a strict policy pertaining to multiple accounts on a single IP address. Essentially, this new policy means that people wishing to play multiple accounts from the same location will need to upgrade their account(s) to a Premium Account.

A Premium Account will allow a user to play the game on the same IP address as another user (provided they are also on a Premium Account) without risk of account suspension. With a Premium Account, you are permitted to make trades with other Premium Accounts on the same IP, but NOT Free Accounts. Trading with Free Accounts (on the same IP) will ultimately end in the suspension of the free account.

Our system monitors accounts very closely 24×7. Trades between free accounts on the same IP and Premium Accounts to free accounts on the same IP will be logged, and notified by the system.

While we understand that the majority of players played the game fairly and cleanly, the policy was introduced as there were a significant number of players that didn’t play fair, and went out of their way to gain any advantage that they could.

To upgrade your account, go to the Core Exiles Store and choose the Premium Account duration that suits you best for each account you want to use on a shared IP (significant discounts available on the longer terms) and checkout. Your account(s) will be upgraded and you will then be able to log in multiple (Premium) accounts on the same IP.

Please remember that when ordering a Premium Account through the store, as with all purchases, you MUST state the name of the account that you are upgrading, or there may be significant delay while we attempt to establish which account purchased the upgrade.

Purchasing Premium Accounts for other players is permitted, providing when you purchase the Account you state the name of the account that it is to be applied.
